NOVEMBER 2022

The Dairy Girl Network held its national conference in Minnesota November 1 – 3, 2022. UMASH was involved by sponsoring two speakers, including Monica Kramer McConkey who addressed stress, mental health, and well-being for women, and Jeff Ditzenberger who spoke on the importance of suicide prevention utilizing the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) method. Megan Schossow and Carol Peterson attended the event and staffed a booth showcasing UMASH resources for dairy women on topics including positive animal handling, stress, mental health resources, and Stop Think Act.

Over 250 women attended the event and represented several vocations within the dairy industry.

The conference’s goals were to provide education on sustainability, dairy financials, people management, consumer trends, milk markets, technical herd topics, inclusion, and more. Attendees were very engaged in learning more about all aspects of the role of women in the dairy industry. We received many positive comments on our resources and suggestions for further safety and health topics.

Megan Schossow makes an introduction at the Dairy Girl Network national conference in November 2022.
