UMASH partnered with the Extension Pesticide Safety Education (PSEE) Program to offer resources at two events in greater Minnesota. Commercial applicators, trainers and employees came together in Mankato (April 19) and Willmar (April 20) to learn more about proper fit testing for respirator use and the Worker Protection Standard.
Jolene Hendrix, Extension Educator with UMN Extension, Gregario Mendez-Ortega with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture – Pesticide & Fertilizer Management and Carolyn Sheridan, Executive Director and Founder of Ag Health and Safety Alliance presented a full day of valuable training for those working in business and industry.
Carol Peterson introduced the participants to UMASH and our resources. Carol highlighted proper handwashing and the Farm Safety Check series which included checks on pesticide storage, and first aid. These events were an excellent opportunity to connect with organizations and businesses that work with pesticides and other chemicals. Additional educational offerings are in the works.
