FFA’ers across Minnesota came together online for their Career Development Event (CDE) on December 13, 2021. Megan Schossow and Carol Peterson worked with the Ag Communication faculty (Rebecca Swenson, Troy McKay and Garrett Steede) to offer a press conference event where students heard the following accouncement:
Breaking: safety is sustainable
Findings that positive animal handling saves money, saves lives which highlighted UMASH’s animal handling guides. FFA students were assigned different roles and were able to ask questions as reporters. 25 students participated from various school districts. CDE is a useful event to prepare upper-level high school students for a career in ag communication and build confidence overall.
