The Minnesota Organic Conference was held January 10 and 11, 2019.
This was the seventeenth year of the conference, bringing together farmers, vendors and speakers to address the unique aspects of organic farming. The conference has grown in attendance and in 2019 there were over 300 attendees with 2 keynote speakers and multiple workshops over the two days.
UMASH exhibited with health and safety information related to agritourism, farmer stress and the Farm Safety Check. Carol Peterson attended and visited with new and established organic farmers, other exhibitors who focused on organic products and services, and our partners in Extension and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.Safety and health are important topics and need to be top of mind for all farmers – large and small, crop and/or livestock, organic and traditional. The Minnesota Organic conference gave UMASH the opportunity to reach a new audience with our resources and introduce them to our center and the network of National Centers for Agricultural Safety and Health. UMASH came away with a greater knowledge of the people and practices of organic farming.
