The annual National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) Symposium was held May 5, 2022 and co-sponsored by two School of Public Health centers – the Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety (MCOHS) and the Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center (UMASH). The 2022 theme was The Changing Nature of Work: Impacts of COVID-19 on our Health Care Workforce. 119 participants attended the online symposium. Attendees shared that some of the most valuable features of the symposium included:
- Learning about “strategies that have and haven’t worked for treating and preventing burnout”
- “Hearing the great student and researcher presentations…diverse and interesting.”
- Gaining “a better understanding of the field of public health”
RECORDINGS
The symposium began with video presentations from students and partners from MCOHS and UMASH on a number of research and outreach projects. This was an opportunity to showcase the work taking place within the school, share results and additional plans by the students. The videos are available on the YouTube playlist of recordings.
Dr. Lotte Dyrbye, M.D., M.H.P.E. who is the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty and Chief Well-being Officer; Professor of Medicine University of Colorado School of Medicine was the featured keynote speaker. She was followed by three panelists, all of which shared their insights into worker wellbeing and recommendations going forward.
