COVID-19 has changed the way we work, and farmer cooperatives are no exception. Human resource leaders at farmer cooperatives are taking in information and planning how to keep workplaces healthy.
UMASH Director Jeff Bender was recently invited to speak to human resources employees from Land O’Lakes and the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives about the current agriculture-specific COVID-19 guidelines. Director Bender discussed these guidelines, published by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the Department of Labor, as they relate to farm operations. Of special focus was farmworker safety and proper steps for detecting and responding to a COVID-19 outbreak on the farm.
