Three free 4 hour workshops were held in August in Minnesota and Wisconsin focusing on dairy stockmanship. The workshops focused on the interactions between humans and cows, and included low-stress handling techniques. Animal welfare issues such as the mechanisms for properly evaluating and caring for livestock were also discussed. Worker health and safety was emphasized as a priority throughout the workshops.
Professors from the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin led the educational sessions. For more information on future stockmanship workshops, contact umash@umn.edu.
