Reaching Women Farmers – Close to Home

Reaching Women Farmers – Close to Home

Compeer Financial kicked off spring with four Women’s Financial Seminars throughout Minnesota. These seminars provided female farmers an opportunity to network with other local women in agriculture and to learn more about the business side of farming, marketing and leadership. The cities of Mankato, Rochester, Worthington and St. Cloud hosted the seminars which allowed participants to attend on a regional basis.

These events also addressed the current economic situation in agriculture today and the stress, anxiety and depression facing farmers, families and workers. The speakers offered insight and education on this important topic. UMASH provided resources at all four Minnesota locations on the signs and symptoms of stress in addition to the  Midwest Ag Center Brochure – which highlights resources available through UMASH and our neighboring centers,  Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health, and the Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health.

These seminars were well attended across the state creating an excellent opportunity to reach out to women farmers close to home.  A special thanks to Compeer Financial for organizing and allowing UMASH to be a part of this important work in agriculture communities.
