NOVEMBER 2020
Coping with loss is challenging. Loss can take on many forms – loss of a business, loss of a relationship or loss in a death of a friend or family member are a few examples. Death and dying test our coping skills in unique ways. People who die by suicide touch many people with loss which can be difficult to understand and communicate.
Farmers and other rural residents have a higher likelihood of dying by suicide than people in urban communities. In the country, news travels fast and personal connections can span communities and generations. How does one affected by suicide cope with this loss? How do we talk about suicide? What resources are available to help those in bereavement?
