A Mental Health Day

Professionals practicing in the area of suicide prevention and mental health came together in Glencoe, MN on September 27 for a full-day, continuing education conference about suicide prevention and mental health. The conference was organized by the 2B Continued organization. Its mission is to increase awareness of suicide prevention, mental health & wellness through advocacy, education, and outreach.

 

UMASH Representation
Carol Peterson represented UMASH with a variety of resources including the Cultivating Resilience in Rural Communities toolkit, Signs and Symptoms of Stress cards and the Cultivating Resiliency recorded webinars. Mental health professionals participated from various areas including health care, non-profits, higher education, and more. Some of the topics addressed included mental health for tween and teens, using nature in your life for stress reduction, and the effects of long covid on our mental health.

The topics of suicide and mental health are one of concern for farmers and the agricultural community. UMASH was fortunate to be part of this event to share resources, network, and learn more in an effort to help farmers and families in the Upper Midwest.
