SAFETY AND RESCUE DEMOS

Farmers are at very high risk for fatal and nonfatal injuries; and farming is one of the few industries in which family members (who often share the work and live on the premises) are also at risk for fatal and nonfatal injuries.

Stop by the pavilion, visit the exhibitors, and take in the live farm safety demonstrations.

UMASH Wellness Pavilion:

  • Free swag bags with sunblock, prescription drug disposal kits, and more giveaways including hand sanitizer and personal protection equipment.
  • PTO Safety demonstration to emphasize the dangers of the equipment and prevention/protection from entanglement.
  • Tractor rollover demonstration showcasing the use of a roll bar/seat belt and and key prevention messages
  • Youth UTV and ATV on a tilt table for attendees to learn and apply skills and use recommended PPE.
  • Critical grain site safety demonstrations discussing the dangers of engulfment and rescue procedures
  • Confined space entry for manure pit entry for pumping companies, farm operators and workers and agriculture business owners. Includes entry and lock out tag out procedure.
  • Pavilion with dozens of exhibitors and experts, including an AgriSafe nurse, to help you farm safely.

Using both a Tilt Table and Full Size ATV Tilting Trailer to demonstrate

  • Choosing the correct PPE and proper body attire
  • Determining the size appropriate ATV-UTV
  • Understanding the concept of center of gravity and correct body positioning
  • Burn points that can injure the lower leg
  • Use of a safety flag
  • Single riders

  • Experts will also share insight on respiratory protection and air monitoring and how it can be applied on the farm

The National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS)

  • Manure Pit Safety program is intended for workers and managers in agriculture., including pumping companies, farm operators, and agriculture business owners. 
  • Identify hazards associated with confined space work.
  • Understand the process for confined space entry and lock out procedures.
  • Know where to look for OSHA references and resources related to confined space entry in the confinement industry.
