Bringing the Country to the City

Bringing the Country to the City

The tenth annual Ag Awareness Day was on April 16, 2019 on the Northrop Plaza of the University of Minnesota East Bank campus. This event is coordinated by the University of Minnesota Agricultural Education Club.

The UMASH staff of Diane Kampa, Megan Schossow, Luke Vannurden and Carol Peterson participated with a Sun Safety exhibit to reinforce the proper use of sunscreen and skin protection when working or being outdoors. This gave UMASH a change to build awareness about our center overall and the resources we provide to farmers, families and workers.

Ag Awareness Day brings agriculture to a unique urban setting.  The agriculture organizations along with cows, pigs, llamas, and sheep gave the Minneapolis campus the sites, sounds and smells of ag in the city.  UMASH was happy to be part of this 10 year milestone to highlight the important work agriculture provides for all of us, wherever it may take place – in the country or the city.
