Last week we hosted our sixth Agritourism Workshop in Andover, Minnesota. These workshops are co-hosted by the Minnesota Department of Health Zoonotic Diseases Unit staff, MDH Environmental Health staff, and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. These workshops have been funded by UMASH since 2015 and are provided free of charge for attendees. Topics covered include food safety, food licensing, and best practices for human-animal interactions.

Through our spring workshop we have formed a partnership with the North Star Farm Tour, and the President and Secretary of their Board came as speakers to the workshop. Melodee Smith and Wendy Wustenberg spoke to the other farmers about how they took the lessons learned from the workshop and applied them to their organization and own farms. It was a great opportunity for farmers to hear from other farmers firsthand.
