Farm Tech Days – Where Tradition and Technology Meet

JULY 2022

Farm Tech Days

UMASH was part of the Farm Technology Days near Loyal, Wisconsin, on July 12, 2022.  Carol Peterson worked with our partners at the National Farm Medicine Center in the Rural Health tent to provide farm safety information with a focused effort on reaching children.  Resources included sun safety, heat illness, grain bin safety, ATV safety and other hazards of working on the farm.  Carol also informed attendees of a current survey by occupational doctoral student Justine Bauer on chronic back pain and encouraged them to complete or pass it along to others who may benefit.

Live Demonstrations

Live demonstrations were part of the Rural Health area and included tractor rollover rescue, grain bin rescue and tractor rollover with a roll over protection structure and the importance of wearing seat belts. Farm Tech Days was an opportunity to kick off the summer farm show season and highlight our partnership with the National Farm Medicine Center. As a traditional Wisconsin mid-morning break – we enjoyed chocolate milk and co-jack cheese.
